Petrous Apex Epidermoid

Petrous apex epidermoid is a condition where skin gets entrapped into the petrous apex of the skull and forms a tumor.

Treatment for Petrous Apex Epidermoid

The treatment of a petrous apex epidermoid is surgical excision of dead keratin.  Total excision is not possible and is dangerous.  These patients need close follow-up with serial imaging and repeated procedures as needed.
